According to the Norwegian Space Agency, we are currently heading toward a solar-maximum peak — meaning the charged particles from the sun are creating more frequent and intense auroras than in many years.

Here are a few exciting facts to spark your inspiration:

• Solar activity peaks occur roughly every 11 years — and this cycle is right in that window for 2025.

• The region around Tromsø is perfectly placed under the auroral oval, giving you one of the world’s best vantage points for the lights.

• Experts now expect unusually high aurora-activity not only this season, but well into 2026 and beyond — so your chances for a show-stopping display are excellent.

Whether you’re out on the fjord, under clear mountain skies, or simply stepping outside your accommodation late at night — this year, you’re more likely than ever to witness shimmering curtains of green, purple and pink sweeping across the Arctic sky.

A cabin along a fjord in Norway for holidays

Maybe it is time for you to plan your next holidays right? Norway is a country at you have always think about visiting, but where starting South/ North? Everything has to be seen there. Let’s start by the North, with a cabin along a fjord!

Discovering the special light in Northern Norway

Starting by the North is an interesting choice because you have not only sceneries and wildlife, you have also 2 experiences to live: polar night or midnight sun. So it doesn’t matter at you plan to come by summer or by winter! For sure, it will be unique!

During that season, dark lights offer a special cosy mood where everyone wants to enjoy snow, northern lights, fireplace / plaid and coffee. Kvaløya means Island of Whale, and it is true, there is, depending years, whales and orcas coming here from November to January. Apart from the fact that you can see orcas and whales, Kvaløya has so much to offer and to visit. In winter or in summer, it is crazy how much spots you can enjoy, how much animals you can meet, and Ersfjordbotn is one of them. Really famous to be on one hand, the closest and most beautiful fjord from Tromsø. And, on the other hand, one of the best northern lights spot!

We can’t imagine in Norway there is more than 50000 islands, and Kvaløya is the fifth biggest. Thanks to that, from the North to the South of it, you have thousand of spots to visit. Our minibus tour consists to focus on the best. Flat reliefs and clear water on one side, high mountains around a narrow fjord on others.

Kvaløya Tour to discover Northern Norway’s nature

As long as you stay curious you can have fun all the year long here in Northern Norway, with ou without snow, with or without sun, the surrounding is changing constantly. Every year you enjoy yourself to find again this or that.

To conclude, this island is a must-to-do to understand better Lapland and Northern Norway. It is so rich in history, and things to see and experience that you can’t avoid to spend times there!
